Its mission is to “train young men and women who are eager to create new ideas and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information.” BITS Pilani has three campuses in the country, in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. The admission through this institute is done via a nation-wide test conducted by the institute itself known as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT).

The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are a group of higher education engineering institutes in India. Comprising of 20 autonomous Institutes, they are in every major state/territory in India. At the time of inception, NITs were referred to as Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) and were governed by their respective state governments. The institutes are of national importance.
They were founded to promote regional diversity and multicultural understanding in India. Thus, in all NITs, half the student population is drawn from the home state and the other half is drawn from a nation-wide merit list. The admission to these institutes is done via the JEE Mains examination.
